Miss Dior, an exceptional fragrance
"I created this fragrance to dress each woman in the scent of desire, and to see each of my dresses emerging from its bottle..."
The Designer's Perfume
On February 12th 1947, Christian Dior overturned style codes of the day, imposing a new sensual shape in front of an audience of enthusiastic journalists. Carmel Snow of Harper's Bazaar launched the magic words:
"It's such a Revolution. It's a New Look!"
Accompanying the appearance of the New Look was a surprising new fragrance: Miss Dior.
By perfuming his first runway show with Miss Dior, Christian Dior acted as a true visionary, inventing the very concept of Couture perfume: the first fragrance to be created at the same time as a fashion house.
"Perfume is the indispensable complement to the feminine personality, and the finishing touch of a dress." Christian Dior
Natalie Portman, a timeless heroine
Miss Dior is a stylish young woman, both confident and free, who forever embodies the character of the Dior woman.
Sensual and charming, Natalie Portman embodies the radiant heroine of the House of Dior with infinite grace. She wears one of the first creations by Raf Simons, the Artistic Director for the Dior Haute Couture collections. Young and contemporary, she remains more than ever ingrained with audacity and tradition.
Miss Dior more seductive than ever...
The iconic bottle
The Miss Dior bottle, an icon recognisable among all others, symbolises the Dior elegance that has spanned the ages.
Like a declaration of all that is modern, it is a real Couture manifesto.
"Cut like a suit", its architecture blends softness with geometry, and tender references with the rigour of pure lines.
Steeped in the eternal Dior codes, it displays a houndstooth check engraved on the glass with modernity. The dagger bow itself, tied at the neck of the bottle, symbolises the free and daring spirit of Miss Dior. This decoration displays the art of the bow, so characteristic of Dior style.
The facets of an exceptional fragrance
With the creation of Miss Dior in 1947, Christian Dior marked the beginning of Dior Perfumery history. The unique green chypre was an olfactory revolution that made a lasting impression.
François Demachy, Dior Perfumer-Creator, reinterpreted the chypre signature of Miss Dior with an irresistible modern edge. He gave favour to the citrus facet of Italian Mandarin Essence, there where the original Miss Dior added an element of surprise with the green note of Galbanum. These top notes blend into a floral heart of Egyptian Jasmine Absolute, before sensually concluding with
Essence of Indonesian Patchouli.
Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet, the new floral and sparkling signature
A tribute to Christian Dior's legendary love of flowers, this bouquet was envisaged like a gown embroidered with a profusion of flowers. It exalts Mandarin and Peony against a velvety backdrop of White Musks.
