The Designer's Perfume

On February 12th, 1947, Christian Dior overturned style codes of the day, imposing a new, devilishly sensual shape before an audience of enthusiastic journalists. Carmel Snow of Harper's Bazaar launched the magic words: "It's such a Revolution. It's a New Look!" Accompanying the appearance of the New Look was a surprising new fragrance: Miss Dior.

By perfuming his first runway show with Miss Dior, Christian Dior acted as a true visionary, inventing the very concept of Couture perfume: the first fragrance to be created at the same time as a fashion house.

"Perfume is the indispensable complement to the feminine personality, and the finishing touch of a dress." Christian Dior.
