THE LABORATORY

The heart of savoir-faire and expertise, the Laboratoire de Création Parfum Dior is like a workshop where formulas and raw materials are listed, stored and weighed to be used to create the most fabulous of all fragrances possible. The ingredients are chosen one by one, directly with the raw material producers in order to guarantee their quality and ensure that certain productions are fully exclusive to the House of Dior.
 
Each day, the Perfumer uses over 350 raw materials from the 2,500 vials that are stored in the Laboratory. These raw materials range from the most common to the most precious and rare, such as Iris Absolute, which costs several tens of thousands of euros for one kilo.
 
François Demachy says: “I like to compare this laboratory to the kitchen of a gourmet restaurant, where everything is prepared and which is the centerpiece of a prestigious gastronomic venue.  It is the same here.  The Laboratory is where ideas are born and take shape. Research begins here. As such, it remains loyal to the spirit of Mr. Dior who viewed his House as a creative area in perpetual effervescence, where the only thing that counts is the passion for creation.”
