Tyen and color, interview

What is the importance of your role in Dior makeup creation?
“It’s a wonderful responsibility that allows me to continue to dream with my eyes open. The night’s not long enough…”

Makeup and products also play a vital role. How are they created?
“In the laboratory, there’s also the magic of creating new textures by choosing the best pigments, like a silk weave from Lyon. We always search for the most radiant and most beautiful colors, a lightweight quality and the best pigment for the best product, as with silk. I work with a team, people who love Dior and who, like me, express his spirit in our creations. As Christian Dior said: “Color may be used in touches if you wish to change your look.”

Where do the ideas and themes come from?
“My inspiration comes from life, fashion, film, music, exhibitions, books, etc.”

What are Tyen’s colors for Dior?
“Black, purple and red.”

Three emblematic photos?
“The first visual for Dior Svelte (1995), which was perfect. The first Diorific (1997) and the campaign for Hypnotic Poison (2008) with Monica Bellucci.”

Extract from “The Little Dictionary of Fashion” of Christian Dior, “Color may be used in touches if you wish to change the look of your clothes.”
