Biography

At a young age, Tyen attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts with the intention of becoming an interior designer. But life took him on another path and he joined the Paris Opera as a stage makeup artist for 6 years.

His valuable experience at the Opera de Paris attracted attention from the most prestigious American magazines: Vogue, Vanity Fair, Elle, and many others. Tyen traveled between New York and Paris, working together with world famous photographers like Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Arthur Elgort and Bill King.

Tyen developed a passion for the alchemy of light and colours: "Every photographer has his light just as each season has its own. Light, because of its varied tonalities, is the ideal accomplice for makeup”, he explains.

The eighties proved to be a turning point in his career. He was contacted by the House of Dior, where he soon became the Makeup Design Director. 

A master in creating colours, he innovated emblematic makeup products for Dior and combined his talents as a makeup artist and photographer by creating looks for Dior.
