The Jardin de Milly-la-Forêt collections are a tribute to the passion of Christian Dior for flowers. During his lifetime, the couturier cherished the memory of the Granville family home where he spent his childhood. It was here, in almost two acres of land where his mother tended a magnificent rose garden, that Christian Dior fell in love with the flowers which would inspire so many of his designs. The day after his first show, Monsieur Dior purchased the Coudret mill at Milly-la-Forêt. His garden became a real haven of peace, where the couturier spent long hours designing new floral arrangements with his gardener. This unique garden inspired Victoire de Castellane to craft designs in vibrant colours.
Nature and its host of colours had a strong influence on Christian Dior's work. Today, Victoire de Castellane makes this heritage live on, by designing exceptional collections in flamboyant shades. Gold is enhanced by a lacquer, and adorned with a multitude of colours and designs, precious elements that have been inspired by the flora and fauna in the garden at Milly-la-Forêt. Dior Jewellery blossoms with multi-coloured collections that are surprisingly bold and creative.
The Jardin de Milly-la-Forêt collections are entirely hand-crafted and require all the know-how and sensitivity of the best jewellers and lacquer craftsmen. Aside from the gold and precious stones that are used, the value of these jewels stems from the artisanal and artist dimension of the lacquer work, the ancestral material applied with a brush. This allows the use of around one hundred colours (89 for the Diorette collection alone), and gives rise to both playful and romantic designs.
