Dior Homme by Larry Clark

Cult director and photographer Larry Clark makes the collection of Dior Homme sneakers designed by Kris Van Assche for spring 2017 the stars of an exclusive new film.

Having already lent his face to the winter 2017 ad campaign photographed by Willy Vanderperre, today Larry Clark writes a new page in his history with Dior Homme by this time heading behind the camera. In A Larry Clark Project – Paris Session, the artist places the spring 2017 collection in a favored milieu, one that notably appears in his 2014 film The Smell of Us: that of skate culture. Skateboarders and Dior Homme models embody rebellious Parisian youth seen around some of the capital’s most emblematic locations, such as the Musée d’Art Moderne and the quays along the Seine. Contrasting worlds collide, the mix of urban atmosphere and tradition a distillation of the collection’s spirit.

Dior Homme Sneakers

For spring 2017, Kris Van Assche designed seven new sneakers for Dior Homme, their strong identities encapsulating the collection’s rebellious spirit.

Drips of color that enliven the Prince of Wales check, white spots that jolt the House monogram, flocked velvet motifs superimposed with sequins, mirrored leather in a spray-painted dégradé, another covered in cracked paint, or monochrome matte sequins… The sneakers designed by Kris Van Assche mix traditional elegance with contemporary inspirations, distinguishing themselves with colorful and graphic effects through which the Dior savoir-faire is expressed. “I like to shake things up and create contrasts. The idea here lay in reworking a classic form with radical techniques,” the Dior Homme Creative Director explains. Low or high-top, with or without laces, these new sneakers look just as good as part of a casual outfit as they do with a suit or even a tuxedo.

The first floor has an area devoted to ready-to-wear, featuring a fireplace by the designers Juan and Paloma Garrido, along with evening wear and the shoe collections. The walls clad in the House’s traditional shades of gray are set off by immense flowers on the animated murals by the artist Oyoram. In addition, the Catalan boutique also boasts a VIP salon, furnished with Lathe tables created by Sebastian Brajkovic.
