With all the fashion folk brought together in New York for Fashion Week, the department store Saks is celebrating the arrival in store of the house of Dior's fall-winter ready-to-wear collection. See the extraordinary windows overflowing with the Dior codes.
Ginormous mirrored spheres, an oversized scarlet red mouth, Diorissimo bags and J’adore bottles seem to float on the air: New York's 5th Avenue comes alive as the spirit of surrealism pulses from the storied windows of Saks. Until September 19, the department store is feting the new Dior collection with original visual displays created exclusively for the event. Here again one can find the inspirations for the set of the Paris show from this past spring: a surreal world, culled from the aesthetic of painter René Magritte. A world in which the dresses are reflected to infinity in enormous aluminum spheres. A world in which the models have been erased inside clothes that look as though they're levitating inside the windows.
From Rouge Dior (celebrating its sixtieth birthday this year) to the new versions of the Lady Dior , Dior Bar and Diorissimo bags, from J’adore to the Dior Homme army-chic looks designed by Kris Van Assche, Saks is fixing its spotlight on the whole world of this season's Dior. It's a world conceived of as a fully-developed universe in its own right, without limits or borders, a world shaping its own unique reality.
