Last Thursday, Sydney was celebrating, as the Australian city fêted the inauguration of its first Dior store. Today, DiorMag sets off to explore this exceptional new outpost.

It was to the bustling heart of Sydney's fashion district, at the corner of Castlereagh Street and King Street, that Dior looked to open its brand-new boutique. The fashion players all turned out for the event, desirous to discover this hot new Australian address. Behind a facade evoking traditional Parisian architecture, one could bump into famous faces including Isabel Lucas, Nicole Pollard, Geoff Huegill, and Sarah Snook.
Extending over several stories, the space remains faithful to the Parisian spirit of the historic address at 30 Avenue Montaigne. From the decorative elements inspired by Monsieur Dior's beloved 18th century, such as the medallion-back Louis XVI armchairs, to the cannage motif stone floor, and the video installation by the artist Oroyam (present in all the boutiques), the interior of 65 Castlereagh Street has been created in the image of the house, at once both modern and traditional. Light is omnipresent inside: from the entrance - where the accessories are to be found - which opens into a mirrored gallery (a nod to the Versailles that Christian Dior adored), to the first floor where the stones in the fine jewelry and watches sparkle against the wood-paneled decor.

On the upper floor a private salon uniquely accessible by elevator offers VIP clients a personalized service. This is also the first time that a store in Australia has a boutique that has been entirely dedicated to the world of Dior Homme. On two levels on King Street, connected to the women's store, it offers the full range of the house's men's collections, from suits to leather goods, shoes to watches. To celebrate its opening, the new Australian boutique is exclusively offering two limited editions - a reinterpretation of the  Lady Dior   bag and a satin duchesse dress from the spring-summer ready-to-wear collection in a new pale pink shade. An homage to Christian Dior's favorite color, and acting as an inspiration to Raf Simons, the house's new creative director - a link between the past and the present of Dior.
