For the new Dior Homme campaign, the fall-winter 2014-2015 collection by Kris Van Assche is directed by Willy Vanderperre. Check out the photos and the video. 

Countdown. The seconds flash on the screen. Eight, like Christian Dior's lucky number. Eight seconds and, like the hero of a contemporary silent film in this video by Willy Vanderperre, the Dior man appears. We discover this man of many faces in a black and white nature setting grappling with raw truths - "Love is dead", hastily tagged on a wall... We find him, seemingly playing the role of his own life, in a decor as minimal as a theater set: a chair, walls white as a blank canvas and, as the only ornament or element of fantasy, a sprig of lily-of-the-valley in a vase, on the floor. Impressions, collected on the screen, like so many notes hurriedly scribbled in a journal. Between dreamlike mise-en-scène and performance art, between the natural nonchalance of the Dior man and the role he seems to be playing, the boundaries are blurred and undefined.

And it's this incertitude, this uneasy strangeness that can be found in the campaign photos. The portrait of the man in Dior is confronted with another face, grainy like an image projected on a screen, as though he had met his fictional alter ego. But if his identities are plural, his look imposes his singularity: in the creations from the fall-winter 2014-2015 Dior Homme collection by Kris Van Assche, and in the purity of the campaign in which Willy Vanderperre shoots them, this is clear. It’s in the sharp silhouette of the suits in which we see the influence of impeccable Savile Row cutting, it’s in the details of a collar bar, of embroidered spots on a tie, or the lily-of-the-valley on a jacket lapel, all of which serve to underline the sense of bold elegance, where tradition, like a fade-out, meets a contemporary spirit and artist’s aesthetic.
