Miss Dior   is a green chypre, which is what makes it so original. And it was the first one of them all. But what exactly is a green chypre?

It would arrive in the boutique in December 1947, but from the day of the debut fashion show, on February 12 of that same year,  Miss Dior   scented the salons of 30, Avenue Montaigne. Christian Dior, couturier, caused an international sensation with his revolutionary 'New Look' ; Christian Dior, perfumer, did the same with a fragrance that rewrote the perfumery rule book. Bidding farewell to the powdery smells of the boudoir,  Miss Dior   embodied modernity and the recapturing of femininity. Whether in its freshness, its sensuality, its sophistication, or its staying power and the trail it leaves in its wake, everything that made  Miss Dior   a landmark fragrance in the history of perfumery it owes to its composition :  Miss Dior   is a green chypre, the first-ever one. This means that it has a subtle harmony that begins in the sharp citrus notes, develops in the floral freshness of a garden, and stays in the woody notes of oak moss. Starting with this first perfume, chypre quickly took its place as a scent signature of the house.

It's a complex and refined composition. "It's a harmony, and not a melody,"   reiterates François Demachy, the house's current perfumer-creator
Just like chypre itself,  Miss Dior   is also a family, and its different notes come from the accent on one raw material or the other. Therefore, it's the Sicilian mandarin that forms the citrus note of the Eau de Parfum, while Calabrian bergamot appears in the Eau Fraîche, a mandarin in the Parfum, and neroli in the Eau de Toilette. In the same way, the floral heart is expressed in turn through jasmine, rose and ylang-ylang, and the woody base in patchouli, oakmoss, and sandalwood or vetiver.
