Saturday June 15, at five minutes to ten in the morning, and the tension had reached fever-pitch. The first visitors had been waiting for nearly five hours. In the queue they explained:  "I've come from Brighton,"   and, further along,  "and I came from Belgium" . Inside, the excitement was the same. "I'm readying myself"   was the refrain that could be heard behind the large work tables at which the house's artisans awaited the first vistors for Les Journées Particulières.  "It's a lot of pressure, you know, to have a whole group of people come to observe you."   And yet it was, after all, about showcasing skills of which the Dior craftspeople could be certain of having the highest mastery. The cutting out of the precious skins that will make up a  Lady Dior , the three layers of a man's jacket, the creation of a shoe upper, the fitting of the peplums of a Bar jacket , the lost-wax casting of a piece of jewelry, an haute couture embroidery, the sealing of a perfume bottle... Each rehearsed their role. And then the doors were opened. At 10 am, the first visitors crossed the legendary threshold of 30 Avenue Montaigne to enter the salons in which the various ateliers had set up for the event.
