On the bill today: the official selection as seen by Jean-Pierre Lavoignat; Laetitia Casta, Chiara Mastroianni and Lambert Wilson on the red carpet; flashback on Sophia Loren, and much more.
Lights, camera, action!
Opening scene: the sun rises over the Croisette and, as the sixty-seventh edition kicks off, the Cannes Film Festival is looking pretty diorissime. From the suite at the Majestic where Dior has set up quarters, to the red caret where day after day the stars dressed and made-up by the House are to be found, through makings of, exclusive content, interviews with actors and critiques of the Festival's most anticipated films, both provided by Jean-Pierre Lavoignat - the leading journalist from the world of cinema who, over the course of the Festival, will be the eye of DiorMag... with all that it's almost as if the world of Dior has taken over Cannes.
And showing at the Festival this year? Some of the biggest names in cinema: Marion Cotillard, Robert Pattinson, Sofia Coppola, Ingrid Bergman… so many movie stars whose allure is intimately linked to the house of Dior. One can just imagine them parading one after the other, throughout the Festival, in a long tracking shot on the red carpet. Zoom in on an haute couture dress: here's the muse of the iconic Lady Dior bag, the French actress turned international star and awarded an Oscar for her stupendous portrayal of Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose, here to present her latest film, Deux jours, une nuit [Two Days, One Night] , by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne. Next, focus on Sofia Coppola, the director of Lost in Translation and The Bling Ring , who has also created campaigns for Miss Dior, the House's emblematic perfume, and who this year is a member of the Festival jury. And already the spotlights are trained on another star: Robert Pattinson is appearing for the screening of Maps to the Stars, by David Cronenberg, in which he is playing the lead. We first came across the English actor as a teenager with magical powers in Harry Potter, we got to know him as a troubled vampire in the Twilight saga, as an adventurer veterinarian in Water For Elephants. Having become the face of the Dior Homme fragrance in 2013 we discovered his anew, an actor of a thousand roles and a man with a thousand lives, elegant and provocative at the same time, echoing the scent he embodies. And we find him again through his talented performance in his latest movie, to which Jean-Pierre Lavoignat will devote one of his exclusive critiques for DiorMag.
At the Dior soirée or the Amfar gala, on the steps of the Palais des Festivals or on the Cannes beach, one can also come across Jennifer Lawrence, an Oscar-winning actress at the age of only twenty-two and a Dior muse; Sophia Loren, Festival guest of honor and a Dior- wearing star from the very beginning; supermodel Eva Herzigova, the face of Capture Totale skincare... And faithful friends of the House whose names ooze glamour and elegance, such as Laetitia Casta, Chiara Mastroianni, and many others who will be revealed here on DiorMag during the course of the Festival.
