Last week marked the opening of the brand new Dior Homme store in Miami. The journalist Horacio Silva was there, and files his report. Don't forget to also check out the film of the celebratory event.
Le tout Miami came out in force for the opening of the Dior Homme store in the Design District on Wednesday night hosted by the label’s designer Kris Van Assche, photographer Bruce Weber and W magazine editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi.
Despite the oversubscribed schedule of events on the evening, guests from the world of fashion, art and business, including Calvin Klein, Martha Stewart, Pharrell Williams, Bianca Brandolini, Joseph Altuzarra, Mia Moretti, Kelly Klein, Stephanie Lacava, Timo Weiland, Kehinde Wiley, Ingrid Sischy, Sandra Brant, Delfina Delettrez Fendi, Robert Rabensteiner, and Rebecca de Ravenel, converged at the fledgling store on NE 40th Street.
After an elegant suffici ency of Champagne, revelers decamped to the neighboring Moore Building for a premiere screening of “Can I Make Music Fly?” the exclusive short film shot for Dior Homme by Bruce Weber featuring Sergei Polunin, Charlie Siem, Mason Bucherri, and Claudius Agrippa.
An ode to the youthful sophistication and masculine vigor that define Dior Homme, Weber’s black and white film, which was shot against the iconic New York city scape and will be permanently screened at the store, captured these emerging talents as they played limbo with the markers of carefree naturalism and studied performance.
“I thought I was rebellious and crazy,” said Sergei Polunin, the acclaimed Ukrainian dancer whose frenetic movements anchored the movie. “But Bruce Weber pushed us into unknown territories and really brought out the best in us.”
In keeping with the masculine modernist agenda, the fashion-forward Toronto electronic AZARI & III—producer/musicians Dinamo Azari and Alixander III with vocalists Fritz Helder and Starving Yet Full—brought down the house with a performance that was as sharp as Dior Homme’s signature tailoring.Watch the full version : "Can I Make The Music Fly?"
