How do I care for my Dior leather goods?

Your Christian Dior leather goods item is a luxury product and it needs special care to preserve its exceptional character. Below please find some advice on care and simple gestures that you can follow daily:

To maintain its elegant shape over the years, it is important not to overload it.
Be careful not to leave it exposed to any sources of heat, light, or humidity.
Protect it from contact with any chemical or greasy substances (perfume, alcohol, solvents, make-up). If your bag becomes wet, use a tissue or absorbent cotton to tap lightly on the damp spot.
It is imperative that you do not use any water-repellent product on your bag, as this would damage it.
When you put it away, place it upright in its soft cover, making sure that the handles are not resting on the body of the bag, and that it is always protected from any source of humidity, light and heat.
To prevent any alteration in the Dior metallic accessories, avoid all contact with water, perfume, hairspray, and do not use any chemical products for cleaning them.
Be careful not to place your bag in contact with rough or abrasive surfaces: you are advised not to wear it with jeans or to place it on the floor. We also recommend that you do not let it come into contact with other materials, to avoid any transfer of pigments.
If you ride a scooter or motorbike, take care to place your leather goods carefully in the transport case to prevent damage, and avoid all contact with other materials that could cause any transfer of pigments.

More generally, if your bag is soiled or marked, or if you have questions on caring for it and cleaning it, contact your Customer Service: one of our specialists will advise you and assist you with the best steps to follow. Finally, we recommend maintenance in a DIOR workshop prior to any long storage period, or at regular intervals every 24 months.

How do I care for my Dior shoes?

Your Christian Dior shoes are a luxury product and they need special care to preserve their exceptional character. Below please find some general advice and simple gestures that you can follow daily:

To allow the leather fibres to breathe, do not wear your shoes more than two days in a row.
Put your shoes away in the soft bag that came with your purchase, to protect them from humidity, light, and dust. Before putting them away, use a soft cloth to wipe off any dirt that may have settled on them.
Use shoe trees so that your shoes keep their shape.
To avoid damaging the back of the shoe when putting them on, use a shoe horn. Also be careful to untie the shoelaces, if there are any, to open the shoe and avoid damaging it when putting it on.
Have the heel caps (the plastic pieces under the heel to avoid wear and tear) replaced before they become too worn, as they become impossible to repair when they are too worn down.
Avoid exposure to any sources of heat, light, or humidity.
Protect your shoes from any chemical or greasy substances.
To prevent any alteration in the Dior metallic accessories, avoid all contact with water, perfume, hairspray, and do not use any chemical products for cleaning them.
If you are caught in heavy rain, dry your shoes by placing them on their sides, away from any source of heat.

More generally, if your shoes are soiled or marked, or if you have questions on caring for them and cleaning them, contact your Customer Service: one of our specialists will advise you and assist you with the best steps to follow.

How do I care for my Dior Homme leather goods?

Our artisans have selected the most natural hides to create your bag. These leathers present natural characteristics, such as fine lines, veins or light markings that are an aspect of their beauty. We offer you some advice on preserving and maintaining your Dior Homme bag:

Do not overload it, to keep its shape.
Keep it away from any substance that could leave an indelible mark: water, which leaves traces or blisters when it dries; alcohol (perfume), greasy products or ink (felt pens and other writing instruments).
Avoid contact with abrasive surfaces, dyes or bleaches, to prevent possible scratches or transfer of pigments.
Put your bag away in its soft cotton cover that came with the bag at the time of purchase, after having taken care to stuff it with tissue paper. Place the shoulder strap inside the bag and leave the handles raised so that they cannot mark the exterior of the bag.
Store it away from any source of light and heat.
If you ride a scooter or motorbike, take care to place your leather goods carefully in the transport case to prevent damage, and avoid all contact with other materials that could cause any transfer of pigments.

For an in-depth cleaning or just a pampering, we invite you to visit a Dior boutique to drop off your bag with one of our leather goods experts, who will hand it over to one of our artisans. For any questions, do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service. Our advisers will be pleased to tell you the procedure to follow.

Maintained this way, you will enjoy your Dior Homme bag to the full for a long time to come.

How do I care for my Dior Homme shoes?

• To allow the leather fibres to breathe, do not wear your shoes more than two days in a row.
• After each use, insert wooden shoe trees, to preserve their original shape and appearance.
• Put them away in the soft cotton bag you received at the time of purchase, and store them in a dry place away from any source of light and heat.
Regular care will ensure a long life for your shoes. Before cleaning, we recommend that you remove any dust with a soft brush.

For an in-depth cleaning, we invite you to visit a Dior boutique to drop off your shoes with one of our leather goods experts, who will hand them over to one of our artisans.

How do I care for my Dior Homme garments?

How do I care for my suit?

Made in Italy according to time-honoured tailoring techniques, Dior Homme suits, with their traditional interfacing, combine craftsmanship and contemporary style. To keep your suit in good condition for longer, we advise you to follow these simple rules regularly:

Alternate your suits every day, to let the fibres in the suit fabric fall back into place.
Avoid overfilling the pockets of your suit, to keep their original shape and form.
Air your suit and then brush the surface of the fabric with a soft brush. Pay special attention to the collar, cuffs and pockets. Finally, avoid using adhesive lint rollers, which can leave a sticky residue on your suit.
Store your suit away from humidity, preferably on a large wooden hanger that perfectly follows the shape of the jacket. Trousers should be hung from the cuff to provide the perfect drop.
Have your suit cleaned only at a specialised dry cleaner, no more than twice per season. If you wish to remove a wrinkle, we recommend that you use steam from an iron held at least 20 cm away to avoid any damage to the fabric.

How do I care for my shirt?

To keep your shirt and the quality of its fabric in good condition, we advise you to follow these simple rules regularly:
Before washing your shirt, remove the collar stays, unbutton it and turn it inside out.
Take care to follow the instructions written on the label inside the shirt. Hand washing is to be preferred over machine washing, but if you use a machine, select a delicate wash cycle, if possible in a cotton laundry bag.
Take care not to put your shirt in the dryer. Hang it on a hanger so that it returns to its shape.
We advise you to iron your shirt while it is still slightly damp, to maintain the softness and sheen of the fabric.

How do I care for my leather item?

Make sure you keep your leather item away from any products that could cause it to lose its colour, as well as from oily, damp, alcoholic or chemical substances in order to avoid staining the leather indelibly.
If the item comes into contact with water, dab gently with a soft cotton cloth. Do not rub.
If the item is stained, slightly dampen the cloth then, if necessary, gently shine with a dry cloth.

How do I care for my knitwear?

Avoid wearing your knitwear for two consecutive days to allow the fibre to rest and the garment to recover its original shape. Fold your knitwear in order to preserve its original appearance (do not place on a hanger).
Take care to follow the instructions written on the label inside the knitwear. Hand wash at 30°C with gentle soap. You are strongly advised not to use any kind of softener on wool or cashmere pieces.
Take the precaution of not drying your knitwear in a dryer; place it flat on a towel away from the sun or any source of heat.

How do I care for denim?

In order to shape jeans to your body and give them unique character, you are advised to delay the first time you wash them.
Make sure you follow the advice on the garment label. Turn your jeans inside-out and wash them separately, preferably by hand in cold water. Rinse them gently without rubbing to help them retain their original shape and colour.
You are advised to dry your jeans flat and inside out, preferably outside.
When ironing, keep the jeans inside-out and iron at a cool temperature to preserve the quality and comfort of the fabric.

How do I adjust the size of the strap on my Dior watch?

The strap resizing service is able to adjust the strap properly on the wearer's wrist, and in this way, ensure that the watch runs with optimal efficiency and is also protected from wear or premature scratches.
If links are removed, the additional links will be returned to you. If links are added, you will be charged for the additional links according to the strap model.

Can I change the strap on my Dior watch?

Depending on the conditions of use, a leather or fabric strap should be changed every 6 to 12 months. You can have it replaced by visiting one of our Dior boutiques.

How do I care for the strap on my Dior watch?

Your watch needs attentive care. Some basic recommendations will enable you to preserve its reliability and to better protect it from the ravages of time.
Ceramic cases and straps: To maintain your ceramic watch and strap in good condition, we recommend that you clean them regularly. This maintenance is to be done using a soft brush, moistened with tepid soapy water (liquid soap). Next, rinse your watch with fresh water to eliminate the soap residue. To ensure optimal life to your watch, clean it after contact with salt water or cosmetics. Ceramic is very hard and is sensitive to impact. Being dropped or struck violently against a hard surface can cause it to break. Therefore, we recommend that you handle your watch with care.

Metal cases and straps: To maintain your metal watch and strap in good condition and ensure optimal life, we recommend that you clean them regularly. This maintenance is to be done using a soft brush, moistened with tepid soapy water (liquid soap) to eliminate any deposits that have accumulated on the case and between the links. Next, rinse your watch with fresh water to eliminate the soap residue and dry it with a soft dry cloth.

Leather straps: Leather is a natural material that ages and develops a patina. The life of your strap depends on how often you wear your watch and the humidity to which it is exposed. Certain conditions of use will accelerate the ageing process. To avoid accelerated wear and tear, avoid all contact with water and cosmetics (creams, perfume).

Rubber straps: Maintenance is to be done using a soft cloth, moistened with tepid soapy water (liquid soap). Next, rinse the strap with fresh water to eliminate the soap residue. If there are remaining spots after using the method described above, do a cleaning with a soft brush that has been immersed in soapy water. For stubborn spots on the surface, clean immediately with an eraser (plastic type), and then use a soft cloth moistened with tepid soapy water. Precautions for use: do not use any solvent, or you will risk damaging your strap.

How do I change the battery on my Dior watch?

Watches equipped with a quartz movement are extremely accurate. The battery life for the movement is 2 to 3 years. It is recommended that you not leave a dead battery in your watch, as it could damage the movement. Changing the battery should be done by an authorised retailer of "Dior watches", who will also check the water resistance and change the seals. Quartz movements, with the exception of chronographs, are equipped with an indicator for the end of the battery's life. Approximately 2 weeks before the end of the battery's life, the seconds hand will stop and then jump every 4 seconds.

Is my Dior watch under warranty?

Your Dior watch is under an international warranty against any defect resulting from defective parts or a manufacturing defect. For 24 months from the date of purchase that appears on the warranty card. If during this period it becomes apparent that such a defect exists, the repair will be done free of charge.

Prior to the repair, our technical services must acknowledge any defect in your watch. Defects resulting from the following causes are specifically excluded from this warranty:
abusive treatment (impacts, crushing, etc.), accidents, alterations, transformations.
any interventions carried out outside our network of authorised "Dior watches" retailers that could expose your watch to serious damage and for which we cannot accept responsibility, for example in the case of incorrect handling while changing the battery.
normal wear and tear of the case, strap (in metal or in leather), the crown or the crystal.

Presentation of the warranty card, duly filled in (date of purchase, name of the authorised "Dior watches" retailer, signature) is mandatory to benefit from the free warranty. The defective watch as well as the warranty card may be presented either to a Dior boutique or to an authorised "Dior watches" retailer.

Is my watch water-resistant?

Dior watches are all water resistant; however, the level of water resistance can vary between 30 m (3 atu) and 50 m (5 atu), depending on the model. Please refer to the engraved inscription on the case back under "water resistance".

The water resistance of a watch protects the movement from dust, humidity, as well as any risk of deterioration in the event of immersion.
The water resistance of a watch cannot be guaranteed for an indefinite period. It can be affected by ageing of the seals (exposure to cosmetic products, perspiration, changes in temperature, etc.) or by an accidental impact to the crown and/or the push buttons. Therefore, to preserve the water resistance of your watch, we recommend that you never activate the crown to set the time or the push buttons under water, and that you make sure that the crown is pushed in and screwed down (depending on the model) completely after each manipulation.

After an immersion in salt water, rinse your watch in fresh water to avoid any corrosion.
In general, it is important to clean your watch regularly to avoid any alteration of the water-resistant seals.
