Free Spirit

Under their floral dresses, patchwork skirts and menswear-inspired suit trousers, the models were shod in clogs and biker boots. Liberated from codified restriction, the pairings riffed on unexpected contrast.

Vitality

The iconic Saddle, which debuted in the spring-summer 2000 ready-to-wear collection, is revisited here in two formats, all in leather, in Oblique canvas, and featuring an ethnic strap decorated with fringing and metallic elements. One of the bags is embellished with nine pieces of finely-beaded embroidery, executed entirely by hand after drawings in bright and contrasting colors. The Lady Dior has also been reinterpreted in a version embroidered with colored beads. Patchwork, in different shades of leather and suede, also comes as totes and pochettes.

DiorColorQuake

Worn by every model walking in the show and inspired by the leading 1970s designs, these large square glasses boast real attitude, an a very full-on look. Their flat and pared down lines, like a monochrome glass mask, come in a range of bright hues, including yellow, blue, green and pink. Their name, DiorColorQuake, makes reference to the Youthquakers, a term coined by Diana Vreeland, the charismatic editor-in-chief of Vogue US at the time, to define this new energy emanating from the young generation.

Defiant Look

For the House’s autumn-winter 2018-2019 ready-to-wear show, Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director of Dior makeup, produced a beauty look that was bold and daring.

“I wanted to create a look in which color comes to the fore and sets off the different hues of the sunglasses which are everywhere in this collection,” Peter Philips explains.
Two sweeps of graphic eyeliner in saturated color, at the base of the lashes on both the upper and lower lids, frame the eyes. Whether green, yellow, red, pink, blue or gray, a variety of hues of the new Diorshow On Stage Liner is used to team with each pair of DiorColorQuake. Eyebrows are subtly reshaped with Diorshow Brow Styler.
The complexion is brightened with Capture Youth Glow Booster serum applied as a base, then unified with Diorskin Forever Undercover which offers a large palette of shades while still keeping a very natural-looking finish. Lips are hydrated and plumped with Dior Addict Lip Maximizer. Hair, whether curly or straight, is pulled to the side to accent the collection’s caps.
