Capture Youth – The Film

With a magnetic beauty and unflinching gaze in the campaign film directed by Cass Bird, Cara Delevingne unveils the new Capture Youth skincare line. We take a look at this preemptive-focus routine to delay the signs of aging before they appear.

Capture Youth is first and foremost the story of a scientific breakthrough. Until now, one of the main ways of dealing with skin oxidation has been to act after the appearance of the first signs caused by aging with an external supply of antioxidants. Following several years of research, and in partnership with the Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Dior scientific researchers have turned a spotlight on the existence of an antioxidant defense system inside the cells of the epidermis. This mechanism, glyoxalase, which helps protect the skin from the harmful effects of aggressive elements (pollution, fatigue, stress, smoking), becomes less effective over time, and the visible signs of aging appear. This is how Capture Youth was born: at the heart of this new treatment, Florentina iris extract targets glyoxalase, to help it stay active1 and enable the skin to anticipate and prepare for the effects of time. Signs of age are restrained even before they appear. This approach is inspired by predictive medicine, which analyzes the genome to understand and prevent diseases and treat them according to each patient’s profile. With Capture Youth the Dior science team applies this field of research to cosmetics: it is no longer a question of correcting but of anticipating, in a personalized way, for each skin, and each woman.

Anticipating, therefore, with the Age-Delay Advanced Crème. And personalizing with five complementary serums to use according to skin characteristics: Glow Booster with vitamin C to bring out radiance, Plump Filler with natural-origin hyaluronic acid to aid in plumping up volumes, Matte Maximizer with lactic acid to contribute to the matifying effect, Lift Sculptor with polyphenols from tea to aid in remodeling, and the Redness Soother with cotton peptides to contribute in soothing sensations of discomfort.

The Time is Now – Capture Youth

We announced it a few weeks ago: Cara Delevingne is the face of a whole new Dior skincare line, Capture Youth. A revolution in cosmetics, it came about as the result of a major study on anti-oxidation. The contemporary ideal of beauty, if anyone could be deemed to be, the model and actress was photographed by Cass Bird for the advertising campaign unveiled today.

In a spare and unadorned setting, Cara Delevingne is the natural embodiment of the spirit of Capture Youth, skincare designed for a generation living in the now, seeking efficiency and preferring to act before it's too late. Recognized for her cheeky charisma and blunt sense of humor, this young woman is at the same time a famous model, fashion icon, online star and actress. For New York photographer Cass Bird’s camera she is utterly herself, sublime and spontaneous.

Ready-to-wear Spring-Summer 2018 Campaign

For this campaign shot by Patrick Demarchelier, Maria Grazia Chiuri chose the model and artist Sasha Pivovarova, who had opened the ready-to-wear spring-summer 2018 show in jeans and a t-shirt printed with the title of the Linda Nochlin essay, “Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?”

She poses for Patrick Demarchelier’s camera in a photography studio, surrounded by her finished drawings or in the act of making them. These portraits of women with angular faces and large mesmerizing eyes are very personal to Sasha as they are a reflection of her and her emotions. The creative process is reminiscent of Niki de Saint Phalle’s, Maria Grazia Chiuri's primary source of inspiration for this collection. The advertising campaign’s aesthetics also evoke another inspiration: the 1960s, and with them a spirit that’s equal parts artistic, feminine and cheekily playful.
