Tarot Pop-Up Stores

The pieces from the cruise 2018 collection designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri and inspired by tarot cards are being offered in all the Dior flagships and in an exclusive selection of pop-up stores specially decorated with paintings and hangings featuring arcana from the deck such as The Wheel of Fortune, The High Priestess and The Sun.

Since yesterday at The Corner in Berlin, from today in Milan at Antonia and in Paris at 44 Avenue Montaigne, with rue Saint-Honoré, New York, Miami and Hong Kong on the way, a cluster of pop-up stores are showcasing the creations revisiting the feminist illustrations for the Motherpeace tarot, produced by Karen Vogel and Vicki Noble in the 1970s, which proved such a key inspiration for Maria Grazia Chiuri. Round minaudières, versions of the Lady Dior and Dioraddict bags, silk scarves, sweaters, patched bomber jackets, leather biker jackets and a host of other covetable pieces featuring these female figures in embroidered, printed or hand-painted form will be exclusively available in these locations. “The tarot cards of Karen Vogel and Vicki Noble are powerful, the artistic expression of a feminism capable of healing and empowering. I wanted to reuse them in a pop spirit. These tarots are linked to the star signs, something that was also dear to Monsieur Dior. Fortune telling and tarot cards are part of the House codes I discovered when I was immersing myself in the history of Christian Dior and I’m appropriating them by reinterpreting them in each collection with a different spirit,” explains Maria Grazia Chiuri.

Rare Flowers

We take a look at the sensual bouquet of J'adore L'or, composed by François Demachy around two particularly noble flowers: jasmine grandiflorum and the centifolia rose, both cultivated in Grasse, the cradle of perfumery and terroir of choice for Dior perfumes since the beginning.

For François Demachy, Dior's exclusive perfumer-creator, "J'adore L'or is a painting entirely dedicated to the beauty of flowers". At the heart of this exceptional fragrance lies jasmine grandiflorum. J’adore L’or is one of the very rare perfumes to be so generously endowed with it. Grown on the Domaine de Manon, an exclusive partner of Dior perfumes, it requires exacting care, and takes three hours to harvest a single kilo of fresh flowers. François Demachy selected it for its unique nuances and the power the land in which it blooms gives it. Its intense and fruity character is enhanced by the sensual centifolia rose, which is also grown in Grasse. Operating around this sensual duo is the enveloping charm of Tahitian vanilla, and the intoxicating seduction of exotic ylang ylang paired with captivating and heady tuberose.
