Japan According to Peter Philips

In Tokyo for the Dior haute couture spring-summer 2017 show, Peter Philips, the Creative and Image Director of Dior Makeup, was game for sharing his own thoughts on the Land of the Rising Sun and the beauty of Japanese women.

For the haute couture spring-summer 2017 show that took place Wednesday in Tokyo, Peter Philips, the Creative and Image Director of Dior Makeup, produced a luminous beauty look with a poetic eye.

This season, the Dior woman is a beauty with a light and pure complexion. The finesse of the skin's texture is redefined in order to better highlight it, and the cheeks reshaped using a powdered pink shade. This beauty extends to the eye area which is illuminated with star-shaped spangles placed according to the model's personality; whether as a constellation on the cheekbones stretching up to the temples, or on the inner corner of the eyes or the center of the lower lid. The mouth is natural, smoothed first with Lip Sugar Scrub then lightly graced with Dior Addict Lacquer Stick applied in the middle of the lower lip. Nails are kept discreet with a Diorlisse Abricot base, and, lastly, the hair wavy, left long and free or carefully fastened in place.

The House of Dior Ginza

The heart of Tokyo, at GINZA SIX, is the location for the House's opening of a new five-story boutique today.

For Dior, the architect Yoshio Taniguchi, notably famed for his reinvention of the MoMA in New York, conceived a unique façade evoking a light-filled dégradé of white sails, structured by horizontal lines and punctuated by four large street-level windows. For the interior, Peter Marino, star architect of Dior boutiques around the world, has created a contemporary atmosphere dominated by white tones, in which the modern furnishing integrate seamlessly. The visitor is welcomed by the House's leather goods collections, presented in a seven-meter-tall atrium, in addition to the accessories and jewelry and timepieces creations. A few steps further along, on a floor whose beige Tavel stone and black cabochons stretch out like a long carpet, one reaches the first floor where the shoes are displayed in a space decorated with a wall artwork by Tarik Kiswanson. The other levels contain the women's ready-to-wear collections, the Dior MAISON line, Dior Homme, and a VIP salon. On the third floor, the Café Dior by Pierre Hermé provides the opportunity for a delicious pit stop to sample the desserts created exclusively by the celebrated eponymous French pâtissier-chocolatier.
