Jennifer Lawrence and Dior

A House muse, Jennifer Lawrence embodies and reinforces Dior’s bond with the movies.  The Festival de Cannes offers an occasion to look back on this shared connection.

Brigitte Lacombe

She chose a Dior creation to receive her first Oscar. Awarded Best Actress for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, Jennifer Lawrence ascended to the stage in a white strapless dress from the spring-summer 2013 haute couture collection. Ever since, the House has been with her at the important and decisive moments of her career.

This complicity is evident in the campaigns. Whether spirited in front of Brigitte Lacombe’s camera, dressed in the spring-summer 2018 ready-to-wear collection for Dior Magazine, or feminine and irresistible in the film for Dior Addict Lacquer Stick lipstick in 2017, she imbues each role with an honesty and relevance that captures the House’s spirit of elegance.

Eau Sauvage: A Legend on the Big Screen

Ode to a cult perfume.

Eau Sauvage appeared in 1966. Designed by Edmond Roudnitska, the House's first men’s fragrance possesses everything from the olfactory manifesto. Steeped in fresh aromas, this refined and powerful creation boasts the new masculine values of the time. Those embodied by a young generation of men. Elegant, impetuous and eager to seduce, they seized on Eau Sauvage and made it the signature of their newly-embraced virility.

Elevated to the rank of classic, in 2009 this timeless opus collided with another legend. A sensual actor with a mesmeric beauty, with the face of an angel and the look of a thug, that year Alain Delon lent his face to the fragrance, appearing in a black and white photograph dated from the beginning of his career. Symbols of the 1960s and restless youth, the eternally iconic actor and the fragrance began writing their story. Cementing the links between Dior and the seventh art, Eau Sauvage was inspired by his roles in the cinema. In 2011, in a scene from The Swimming Pool, the scorching 1969 thriller from Jacques Deray, the actor is seen lying by the pool, which serves as a backdrop to the video campaign. A year later, another extract appears for Eau Sauvage Parfum. This time, alongside the actress Romy Schneider, with whom he formed a star couple both on screen and off, his ardent sensuality embodies this sun-soaked scent.

In 2015, it was his role as the hero of The Last Adventure, directed by Robert Enrico in 1967, which appeared on the big screen for the Eau Sauvage Cologne campaign. He brought his somewhat cheeky, tender bad boy virility to its piquant scent. 2017 saw the unveiling of photos shot during the filming of The Last Adventure, featuring Alain Delon and his character’s accomplice and lover, Nathalie. Delon's cinematographic magnetism continues to write the legend of Eau Sauvage.
