Masculine

Riffing on contrasting black and white, the two-tone Dior Unit shoes in the Fall 2018 ready-to-wear collection provide the finishing touch to a look with subtly masculine accents. The Dior21st bag, meanwhile, is characterized by its handle, gilt metal chain, and its graphic fastener featuring Christian Dior’s initials.

Diordirection

For the Fall 2018 ready-to-wear collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Artistic Director of the House’s women’s collections, was inspired by the world of the Surrealist artist Claude Cahun whose work notably questions notions of identity and gender. In the process, the Dior Direction shoes revisited a timeless element of the male wardrobe: moccasins. Just like the black lambskin leather Diordirection bag, they are embellished with Christian Dior’s initials in aged-effect gilt metal.

Summer Scents

As a prelude to long sunny days ahead, the House unveils three of its fabled fragrances developed by François Demachy, Dior’s exclusive Perfumer-Creator. Fresh and captivating, they are perfectly at home in a unique setting: the colorful and radiant streets of Rome.

Offering a pre-taste of summer, Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet floats in the air with a gentle floral fragrance. To the delicacy of its accords of peony and damask rose are added lively notes of Calabrian bergamot and smoother white musks. A poetic scent for a fiery and seductive Miss Dior. Another summer signature, the fruity-salty composition of J’adore Injoy gives a jolt to the senses. An utterly feminine fragrance, its name sounds like a exclamation of joy, a statement of love of life. Celebrating the present moment, this summer it sings like an ode to a charming Italian way of life.

Bright and sharp, Dior Homme Sport as reinvented by François Demachy is intended for elegant urbanites, men constantly on the move, for whom the streets of Rome become their new stomping ground. Shaped around fruity and spicy notes, it combines the acidity of citrus fruits, such as the blood orange, the essence of fragrant citron and grapefruit and the sweetness of pear extract. Just some of the many olfactory experiences to sample this season.

SADDLE BAG

Iconic and timeless, the Saddle bag features prominently in the autumn-winter 2018-2019 campaign.

Instantly recognizable, its horse’s saddle form has been revisited by Maria Grazia Chiuri in two formats and is available in different colors and materials that echo the show’s inspiration: May ’68, a time of intense creative ferment. She designed two patchwork styles, a floral one with seventies accents, and the other in denim featuring the inscriptions Peace and Love Dior.

It also comes with nine pieces of fine beading, entirely done by hand following designs in bright and contrasting colors, as well as in Dior Oblique canvas and in monochrome leather. Paired with a new ethnic-inspired strap, decorated with fringing and metal elements, it can now be worn cross-body to offer freedom of movement with a hands-free empowered allure. “This collection provided an opportunity to revive its timeless beauty. I consider this icon of the House’s recent history the perfect accessory to deal with this battle that is daily life,” explains Maria Grazia Chiuri.
