The Exhibition Dior: The Art of Color in Arles

As part of the Rencontres d’Arles photography festival taking place annually in the southern French city, until 24 September the Galerie du Cloître plays host to the exhibition Dior: The Art of Color presented by the House. It’s an invitation to discover the connection between Dior and color, through images that feature the  thrilling work of Serge Lutens, Tyen and Peter Philips.

A nude look is punctuated by pure green on the lips and eyelids, like a manifesto, the work of Peter Philips ; a stylized makeup look recalling the paintings of Amadeo Modigliani was created by Serge Lutens; a face is lit up by blue shaded wires by Tyen, and that’s just for starters. Among the stone walls of the Galerie du Cloître, Dior makeup makes a color-drenched statement, through some of the most arresting looks and photo series by the designers who have headed up makeup at the House. This color identity is further captured in the book Dior: The Art of Color published by Rizzoli.

Miranda Kerr Ties the Knot in Dior

The model Miranda Kerr looked to the house of Dior when it came to her wedding this past May. Her dress, of the purest lines in silk mikado sprinkled with lily-of-the-valley embroideries, was designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri and specially created in the haute couture ateliers at 30 Avenue Montaigne. It, in turn, served as the inspiration for her flower girl’s dress, designed for the occasion by Cordelia de Castellane, Creative Director of Baby Dior.
