ARTISTIC CRAFTSMANSHIP

  • Christian Dior's unwavering desire was to bestow upon his fragrances bottles that would reflect their exceptional quality. At the crossroads of fashion and jewellery, the house of Dior designed special bottles that were works of art. A heritage perpetuated today with limited editions that are the ultimate in luxury.

DIOR AND BACCARAT: AN HISTORIC PARTNERSHIP

  • As early as 1949, Christian Dior began pairing his fragrances with the nobleness of crystal and the expertise of Baccarat. The famous glassworks in Lorraine produced the legendary amphora, a luxurious bottle designed for the special Dior fragrances. White and gold, finely chiseled, its slender yet round shape symbolises the femininity celebrated in Christian Dior's New Look. Result of the expert work accomplished by highly skilled Baccarat glassmakers, this amphora announced the J’adore fragrance, now worn and loved by women around the world.

At Baccarat, as in the Dior workshops, crafting beauty requires in-depth knowledge of age-old techniques and meticulous handiwork.

2017 – 70 YEARS OF UNIQUE EXPERTISE

  • REVIVAL OF A LEGENDARY AMPHORA, SYMBOL OF DIOR FRAGRANCES

The cooperation between the house of Dior and the Baccarat crystal manufacturer continues today.

In 2017, to pay homage to 70 years of excellence and beauty, the house of Dior is reissuing limited editions of its finest special amphoras.

Chiseled like an exquisite piece of jewellery, the spectacular floral crown of Diorissimo shows all the passion of the Couturier-Perfumer for his beloved flowers. Designed by Christian Dior himself, the sumptuous cap was inspired by Marie-Antoinette's floral candelabra in Versailles.

Today, the house of Dior has decided to reissue 70 numbered editions of this legendary amphora as a tribute to 7 decades of excellence. A replica of the original 1956 design, this precious cap intertwines rose and jasmine in an incredibly finely gilded bouquet.

Produced using the centuries-old lost-wax technique, the cap is handcrafted in jewellery workshops. Molten metal is poured into a mold, which then releases the cooled casting to be chiseled and galvanised by expert hands.

Equally rare, the amphora is mouth-blown and hand-cut by Baccarat master craftsmen.

Luminous and delicate, the long-awaited reissue of this special bottle now holds the olfactory and floral quintessence of the house of Dior: a new interpretation of J’adore by François Demachy structured around the finest flowers in Grasse. Developed exclusively for this limited series, the composition summons Rose de Mai and Jasmine Grandiflorum, in addition to other floral absolutes, all from the Grasse terroir.

  • THE TRI-COLOUR AMPHORAS, AT THE DAWN OF DIOR FRAGRANCE HISTORY

Red, white, blue. These are the symbolic colours the first Dior fragrances wore with pride, colours that stand for the unique expertise of a France that Christian Dior adored and with a tradition of excellence he proudly honored on all of his travels.

The famous trio of tri-colour crystal amphoras is recreated today in a precious case as a celebration of excellence and the international recognition the house of Dior has garnered since its founding.

A legendary chapter in Dior fragrance history, the story of these three amphoras was written in several parts.

In 1949, Christian Dior created a red crystal amphora referred to as "gold red", for this deep colour was obtained with the addition of pure gold. Then, in 1950, came its blue cobalt twin, followed by Christians Dior's favorite white amphora in 1951.

Mouth-blown using a complex cased crystal technique called overlay, its fine craftsmanship echoes the architectured complexity of the couturier-perfumer's finest gowns. Finely chiseled by hand and fashioned with the unique expertise of master crystal craftsmen, this red-white-and-blue trio immediately and enduringly embodies the magnitude of French luxury. Each bottle is crowned with a precious "olive" stopper with a lucky gold star, a symbol of the couturier's legendary superstition. Whirling and kaleidoscopic, the time-honored silhouette of today's special re-edition enshrines the legendary Eaux de Parfum J’adore, Miss Dior (2017) and Diorissimo.

J’ADORE L’OR BY VICTOIRE DE CASTELLANE

  • The J’adore amphora enshrines the special fragrance like a precious treasure. For the first time, Victoire de Castellane, Artistic Director for Dior Joaillerie, delivers her own personal interpretation. Crafted in the finest high jewellery workshops of Paris, this special edition teams the technique of scorched silver with pink gold on the front and back of the ribbon, to bring out the colour of the J'adore l'Or fragrance as it works in a stunning play of colour and light with the metal.  The bottle is adorned with a bow featuring 10 pear-shaped diamonds and 28 round diamonds.

MISS DIOR, THE COUTURE FRAGRANCE

  • Inspired by the most beautiful embroidery from the Dior Haute Couture ateliers, the Miss Dior special editions are modern bouquets in tribute to the profusion of flowers that compose the fragrance and to the vibrant personality of Miss Dior.

The creation of these special pieces was orchestrated by the Couture ateliers on Avenue Montaigne, who channeled their age-old expertise into the Dior fragrance.

The new special edition of the Miss Dior bottle displays a stunning embroidered bow to celebrate the Couture spirit of this legendary fragrance.

Cloaked in pink, black and cream, beads and sequins blossom on a leather-satin ribbon using a double hook-and-needle embroidery technique to create a profusion of subtle contrasts in colour and shine.
