The Bar Jacket

THE BAR JACKET

The quintessence of Dior elegance, an icon of the New Look, the Bar jacket has been reinvented season after season by the House’s Creative Directors. Its architectural curves reflect the essence of the Maison and the spirit of Parisian couture.

AN ICON

Recognizable for the extreme slenderness of its nipped waist, its soft shoulders, the accentuated slope of its basques and flared skirt, the Bar suit sealed Christian Dior’s success with his very first collection in 1947. It was the triumph of the New Look.

    VIRTUOSO COUTURE

Each of these objects of desire represented a real challenge for the Dior Ateliers, which skillfully recreated the distinguishing volume and cut of the emblematic model. Conceived like a sculpture, the Bar jacket embodies the most excellent savoir-faire, with its irresistible hang, and the finesse of its details embracing, enhancing the body’s contours. A masterful technical feat.

THE BAR JACKETS OF THE ICONIC 30 MONTAIGNE LINE

In homage to the historic cradle of Dior, the address chosen by the founding-couturier to establish his House in 1946, Maria Grazia Chiuri has dreamed up the 30 Montaigne collection. This series of creations composes an ideal wardrobe featuring iconic Dior references and looks. Thus, the Bar jacket – ultimate symbol of the New Look – is revealed through six new variations. Connecting past and future, these reinterpretations boldly celebrate Dior elegance.

Guaranteeing a singularly sophisticated look, these exclusive new designs symbolize the creativity of a House in perpetual reinvention.
