Paying homage to Christian Dior's* first collection, the Corolle portable lamp was designed for Dior Maison in conjunction with the French designer Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, who took his inspiration from the silhouette and drape of dresses designed by the couturier. "It was all about finding a refined simplicity key to the elegance that defines Dior, along with its pastel colors," states the designer, who is renowned for his architectural staging as well as his furniture and ornamental designs. The glass shade on this portable lamp was hand-blown at the International Glass Art Center in Meisenthal, according to traditional excellence in savoir-faire. The designer was keen to celebrate this heritage by adding a touch of modernity, guided by his experimental research. Topped with a leather strap especially designed in a Limoges workshop, each shade is unique – born out of this premium craftsmanship – and features a beautiful hue in amber or pink. The latter was Christian Dior's favorite color, believing it to be "the very softest of colors."
Four different lighting levels with touch activation – the very lightest of touches instantly turns on the light – are possible with this understated design, which is a work of art in its own right and comes in a limited edition of 100 pieces per color.
"The iconic Corolle line formed the revolutionary New Look, alongside the so-called 'En Huit' silhouette.
