Stylistic Odyssey

An icon of Antiquity, the peplos, with its elementary form, is reinvented at the heart of the Dior cruise 2022 collection as an original essential, at once embracing the body while liberating it. Maria Grazia Chiuri revisited her pleated and draped designs with an enhanced sportswear spirit, mixing ancient heritage and contemporary fashion.

    A Sporty Attitude

In the center of the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens, the silhouettes designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior adopted a sportswear attitude, including the opening look reinventing the peplos with its drawstring waist, zippers and sneakers. Continuing this athletic odyssey, the cuts are loose and fluid while patterns come in bold combinations for an allure that’s more contemporary than ever.

      Aegean Blue

Continuing his artistic dialogue with Maria Grazia Chiuri, Pietro Ruffo created a new pattern presenting a bold reinterpretation of camouflage, with figures inspired by ancient ceramics. Evoking the sunny colors of Greece, the print features on a series of looks with a sportswear vibe.

        Reinvention

Punctuating the silhouettes of the Dior cruise 2022 collection, iconic House codes like the cannage and houndstooth motifs are revisited, combining heritage, a sportswear spirit and modernity. The lucky star of the famously superstitious Monsieur Dior is reinterpreted at the heart of a graphic print entitled Dior Etoile.

          Monochrome

Like an ode to delicacy and purity, a number of the collection’s silhouettes come in white, a symbol of Greek statuary since Antiquity. The color’s luminous reflections give life to the different drapes through plays on transparency and movement that elegantly reveal flashes of the body.

            Iconic Silhouettes

The style of Marlene Dietrich, once a loyal client of the House, features among the influences of the Dior cruise 2022 collection designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri. The suit is reinvented through loose, flowing cuts in homage to the actress' iconic outfits. A symbol of boldness and self-assertion.

              Take Flight

In a sumptuous tribute, a costume representing Leda succumbing to the Swan worn by Marlene Dietrich in 1935 is reinterpreted by Maria Grazia Chiuri and closes the show. A poetic ode to mythology enhanced by the virtuoso savoir-faire of the Dior Ateliers.
