The Collection

Silhouettes show a fundamental simplicity, liberating body and spirit, celebrating more than ever the alliance of comfort and elegance. The garment is constructed flat, in a two-dimensional way, giving rise to ample and light shapes. Patchworks of scarves, with paisley and floral motifs, punctuated with fragments of lace, adorn a series of dresses and trousers, exalting the infinite possibilities of the imagination. Fascinated by the power of thought embodied by authors such as Virginia Woolf and Susan Sontag, the Creative Director of Dior women's collections revisits the essence of clothing, from men’s shirts to sleek coats, magnifying the savoir-faire of world cultures from Japan to Indonesia. A creative journey that extends to Bali, where the Endek Ikat is made by weavers in total respect for tradition. Coming to life at the heart of this collection, its silk threads enhance coats and jackets in a harmonious dialogue with chiné, while other silhouettes feature stripes or the enchanting tie & dye motif. An ode to freedom of movement in which shoes, such as sandals and ballerinas, take an assertive stance. Turbans, the final detail, crown these looks with a touch of audacity, transforming every woman into a new icon.

On the occasion of the spring-summer 2021 women’s ready-to-wear show, Maria Grazia Chiuri continued her committed reflections on the origins of fashion, the meaning of cut and design as artistic languages that are constantly being reinvented.
