DIOR AND RIMOWA: A Story of Exceptional Savoir-Faire

On the occasion of Kim Jones’s Summer 2020 fashion show, Dior unveiled a series of pieces designed in collaboration with the luxury luggage brand RIMOWA. Celebrating the values of creativity, craftsmanship and innovation that unite the two Houses, the collection pays homage to Christian Dior’s passion for travel.

  • The Cabin suitcase in aluminum – one of the emblems of RIMOWA – is reinvented in three new versions (in matte black, silver and gradient blue), punctuated by the Dior Oblique motif created by Marc Bohan in 1967, which also adorns its lining. Using a scrupulous anodization process, the “Dior” letters are inscribed on the metal’s surface, while vibrant pigments reveal themselves in subtle plays of light. The creations feature four multi-directional wheels thanks to the innovative Multiwheel® system, stamped with the “CD” initials.

    • Designed to elegantly complement this must-have, the Personal clutch, available in blue, black, silver, or pink, reflects Dior’s excellence and savoir-faire in leather goods. Each piece boasts a matching leather-lined interior sheathed in a black Dior Oblique nylon canvas, as well as a zipped pocket and card slots. Ready for adventure, it’s also embellished with a removable leather strap bearing the “Christian Dior” signature, for cross-body wear.

For the artisans and Ateliers, the fabrication of these objects of desire requires many hours of work involving complex technical challenges: the aluminum – a material just as delicate as leather – must be treated with particular precision, embodying an alliance between the celebration of tradition and visionary innovation, two pillars dear to Dior.
