inspiration dior

— Author Caroline Bongrand — Publisher La Martinière — Presentation The phenomenal success of the House of Dior, which opened in 1947 with the "New Look" collection, takes on a whole new meaning when considered in the light of the dream-like, marvellous and magical sources of inspiration taken from the world of art. This world was presented in the Inspiration Dior exhibition at the Pushkin Museum in Moscow, from 28 April to 24 July 2011. This book focuses on the fusion between art and fashion, bringing to life Christian Dior's aesthetics, his fascination with the naked form in paintings by Ingres and Modigliani, his passion for gardens and flowers, and his love of parties and balls. The brand's sumptuous perfumes and high jewellery are also presented, as well as the unsurpassed expertise demonstrated in the workshops. The next section offers a vision of the history of art since ancient Egyptian times through to the present day, including the French 18th century and its undisputed source of inspiration, the Belle Epoque, as well as Spain, Russia and the Far East. Finally, haute couture makes its remarkable entrance with a succession of stars all dressed in Dior.
