In this denser and more woody interpretation of Sauvage, Francis Kurkdjian, Dior Perfume Creative Director, imagined an extrait de parfum for men. True to Sauvage's pioneering spirit, this intense trail with animalic accents pushes the limits of concentration. The beating heart of the composition, the precious essence of Vietnamese oud – sourced from a Dior supplier that complies with the high standards of traceability and practices – leaves its animalic imprint with leather notes in a chiaroscuro of noble woods. The dark and enveloping essence of Indonesian patchouli contrasts with the light, creamy essences of Madagascan vetiver and Virginia cedarwood. A sensual and powerful base is contrasted by a fresh and aromatic top accord of bergamot and an essence of AOP lavender from Provence. A composition of unprecedented intensity, matured and macerated for 42 days, resulting in a men’s extrait de parfum with ultimate long-lasting wear and power. Its bottle, with its translucent interior lacquer – a true masterpiece of glasswork – evokes a drop of deep blue ink suspended in crystalline glass, engraved with the CD monogram. A signature that also adorns the cap, like a crown on the bottle.

The savoir-faire
Born in the wild, crafted by Dior
Oud wood, cultivated for over a decade in a certified Dior channel in Vietnam, produces a highly prized resin that is one of the rarest raw materials in perfumery. After the harvest, the wood is reduced to a powder then carefully distilled before being transformed into a precious essence, revealing notes of honey and frankincense unique to this variety.
