Autumn-Winter 2024-2025 Haute Couture Show
Haute couture is created on the body. On this singular space and veritable area of reflection, it stages a choreography that is unique each time. The arrival in Paris of the Games* – the sacred embodiment of competition – incited Maria Grazia Chiuri to pay a fitting tribute to all athletes whom, from antiquity to the present day, have overcome prejudice and obstacles to ensure a level playing field in sports contests. She thus returns to the primary, fundamental essence of the garment she holds so dear: the peplum, both supple and absolute. The Dior haute couture autumn-winter 2024-2025 line comes to life against a backdrop of hard-won political freedom for women's bodies. Indeed, the Creative Director decided to use a material that didn't belong to the world of couture: jersey, proposed here as a metal mesh in gold, silver and white, which caresses the silhouette and embraces its shape, with the help of an ultralight inner bustier structuring the outfits.
Making a comeback in many pieces in this collection, pleats are sewn down or open to accompany movement. Draping, a visual reference to classical statuary, is prevalent on the catwalk in silk dresses magnified by embroidery, moiré jacquard skirts transformed by time, ensembles where the draped skirt reveals a pair of pants at each step, and the goddess dresses, which, hanging from one shoulder, unveil transparent metallic tank tops trimmed in satin. In the vein of a couture model, a sports jersey is adorned with gold leaves or micro sequins. Red, the "color of life" according to Christian Dior, sublimates the show; the bathrobe, embellished with mosaic mirrors, chooses to disobey its function.
For Maria Grazia Chiuri, this défilé represents an extraordinary opportunity to combine couture and sportswear with classicism, rebellion, collective energy and, above all, the political value of the female body. It allows her to assert the power – both experimental and reflexive – of haute couture actions, and her virtuosity in rethinking the allure, the elegance of a woman at once delicate and strong. A woman who performs just as well as a man.

Couture Ode
True to her commitment of celebrating the work of women artists, Maria Grazia Chiuri chose to honor the oeuvre of Faith Ringgold for the scenography of the Dior haute couture autumn-winter 2024-2025 show. A passionate odyssey at the convergence of art and craftsmanship.

Elegance In Motion
Like an enchanting ode to the body in motion, the looks in the Dior haute couture autumn-winter 2024-2025 collection seem to undulate as the models walk the runway. Fringes, drapes and pleats turn into tank tops, dresses and pants, creating evanescent silhouettes inspired by ancient goddesses. The sportswear wardrobe – paying tribute to athletes past and present – is reinvented through a couture lexicon: the rib on T-shirts is replaced by delicate grosgrain ribbon and the jersey adorned with silk or metallic threads in multiple shades of gold. Expressing virtuoso skills and absolute refinement, all-over embroidery adorns pieces such as irresistible sports shirts and bathrobes embellished with mosaic mirrors. A plural image of a free and powerful femininity.

Divine Glow
Shaping the silhouettes of the Dior haute couture autumn-winter 2024-2025 défilé, references to antique culture are deployed in accessories. Shoes, for instance, borrow the traditional style of gladiator shoes, enhanced by laces that hug the leg from ankle to knee. Alternately studded with feathers or embroidery to magnify the look, they are sometimes punctuated by baroque beads with sumptuously pearly reflections, which also flourish on cuffs, rings and earrings – echoing the structure of the iconic Dior Tribale. Flat sandals feature a couture jersey ribbon to match the dresses they complement. Instilling an allure imbued with a hint of rebellious spirit, black leather double-belts are worn over monochrome white outfits, emphasizing the waist and producing a subtle interplay of contrasts. A celebration of the art of detail.

Sublimation
Between poetry and reinterpretation, the creations of the Dior haute couture autumn-winter 2024-2025 collection exalt the beauty of bodies in motion through jersey peplums sublimated with metallic threads, hypnotic embroidery and refined fringes. A manifesto of excellence.
